Race car on track
STA freshman Bryan Wall races his way toward his future.

“He has always had some type of motorized toy. First, it was a dirt bike with training wheels, then a Polaris side by side, a 4 wheeler and now a race car,” reflects Bryan Wall’s mother, Melissa. What was once a passion for motorized “toys” has now become a full-time hobby for Bryan, Class of 2021.

This past summer, Bryan began racing cars. His lineage may have pre-destined him for a NASCAR career as his grandfather, uncle and father all raced cars. In fact, Bryan’s father (Bryan the elder) raced under the sponsorship of the Burnham Boilers in the Busch North Division years ago. Bryan (the younger) began racing in a Junior Division in Groveton, NH before he was allowed to move up to the Adult Division. He now races at Thunder Road Speedbowl - a .25 mile high-banked, paved short track speedway located in Barre, Vermont.  Bryan proudly races under the same number as his father – Number 77.

With winter coming, Bryan hopes to find time to work on his race car in preparation for next summer’s racing season. Until then, his mother acknowledges that, “he is having a great time getting to know the other drives and gaining more confidence with ever race.”

Fearlessness and skill are what define legends. When it comes to these two traits, Bryan is lapping the rest of us at every mile.
