The Hero Pack Project
May 23, 2008Starting this week, the Political Club will be sponsoring the STA Hero Pack Project. A Hero Pack is a backpack that is given to a group or organization, in this case STA. That organization then gathers donations of items ranging from pencils, envelopes, and teddy bears, to disposable cameras and photo albums. After donations are gathered, the back packs are picked up by the National Guard and distributed to kids who have moms or dads serving in the military overseas.
The "Hero Pack Project" is a state wide effort run by a group called operation military kids, in cooperation with the NH National Guard.
The Political Club distributed plastic bags as a "Temporary Hero pack" to each home room on Thursday, May 22 with official shoulder strapped Hero Packs to be given to each home room on the 28th. The Hero Packs will stay in homerooms for one week, up until Thursday, May 29th, when they will be collected in the multi- purpose room, inspected by political club members, and should be ready to go by the following Monday, June 2nd. Instructions regarding donation guidelines have already been distributed to home room advisers.
Mr. Dinan, the Political Club moderator, club members, and club president John Fleming have been putting substantial time into making the project something STA can participate in. We are all very excited to get this program started. This project is allowing us to do our part at home, while the troops protect us everyday. .
